Graduate in Sociology and Political Science from the Pontif\u00edcia Universidade Cat\u00f3lica do Rio de Janeiro (1967), she holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universit\u00e9 de Toulouse I (1974) and a HDR \u2013 Habilitation \u00e0 diriger des Recherches \u2013 from the Universit\u00e9 de Lyon 2 (2001). She is Emeritus Coordinator of URBANDATA and Professor at the University of Lille.
