Jos\u00e9 Maur\u00edcio holds a PhD in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE<\/a>). He works with social theory, critical theory and political sociology. He was awarded the Anneliese Maier Forschungpreis from Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Alexander von Humboldt<\/a> (2018-2023).<\/p>\n

His latest books in English are Authoritarian Collectivism and \u2018Real Socialism\u2019: Twentieth-century Trajectory, Twentieth-first Century Issues<\/em> (London: Anthem, 2021), Critical Theory and Political Modernity<\/em> (New York: Palgrave, 2019) and Emancipation and History: The Return of Social Theory<\/em> (Leiden: Brill, 2017).<\/p>\n
